A beautiful young woman once told me “I’m a Social Darwinist, but I don’t believe in evolution.” The combination of attraction and revulsion was like being stabbed in the liver. Fortunately, this terrifying feeling doesn’t apply to all women all the time. One of the best things about being in love is that I don’t have to worry about experiencing this type of cognitive dissonance, attraction and admiration are refracted into a manageable scope. The world is harsh and the object of my affections hasn’t read my blog yet. Who knows how long I’ll be allowed to enjoy such happiness.
