I can’t follow this thread because Medium’s user interface it too confusing. There’s a bad trend of referring people to external sources instead of making a point. Our goal should be to answer each other in terms of “(Fact claim)+(Citation) therefore (Single sentence containing my entire argument).” Naturally, this goes for online arguments, not arguments with girlfriends, cops, or poly amorous life partners. Those arguments should be based on both parties achieving a desired emotional state at the end of the conversation. One thing I agree with Jordan on: “Everyday is a lottery, and first prize is getting to keep all our arms and legs.” God help us all.
