Noted philanthropist and presidential candidate Andrew Yang points out that the market value of caring for a loved one is $0 dollars a year, exactly the same amount as Amazon’s federal tax bill. Yang’s solution, which I applaud, is to compensate every citizen $1000 dollars a month to acknowledge that simply being a member of society is a contribution in itself. $0 year is also the current market rate of being an obnoxious commenter on the internet. Trolling, arguing, and taunting in comment sections takes just as much creativity as writing repetitive tripe for content mills and has greater social value.
